There are a lot of challenges…I’ll touch on one.
There is a moment after you have officially received your first order that is very tricky.
After you get your first wholesale order you need to light a fire under production to fulfill and get your orders in time. You also need to be able to pick, pack, and distribute in time and with all the correct barcodes, packing slips etc. Many retailers have extensive rule books on how to do that to their standards. Its time to ask yourself if you have the capital to produce the collection and wait for payment sometimes up to 60 days after delivery. Its at this time that many brands decide they can’t afford to be in business. Having a strong person to manage the operations and account receivable is extremely important.
